Guest Post & A Contest: Ivy of Book Reader Times

FULL NAME: Ivy Suarez
BIRTH DATE: 03-03-1983
LOCATION: Worcester, Ma
BLOG CONTENT: BRT is a forum were you can discuss any author or book. You can also discuss movies, TV shows and more.

Favorite fictional character that you wish is real?
I have too many! For now I would have to say Wrath from J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood Series. He is sooo HOT!

First of all I would like to thank Pat for inviting me to do a guest blog. I am very happy to be here today. I was debating on what topic I would talk about. So, I decided to share with you all how I was introduced to world of paranormal books.
My first vampire book ever was Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I read her Twilight series in less than a week. I was hooked! I was very sad when I finished all four books. I thought that I would never read anything like it again. I was sooo wrong! One of my friends introduced me to the Anita Blake Series by Laurell K Hamilton. I knew then that I could not stay away from the paranormal.

I started doing research on line and started going into that section of the book store that I never visited before. The next thing you know I had over dosed on paranormal books. Before these books, I had absolutely no idea that there were so many great paranormal books out there. I did however come across another a problem… I quickly learned that many people were not into vamps and wolves. I only had 2 friends that I could talk to about the books I was reading.
At first I could not get any of my other friends to share the same interest as me in paranormal books. I slowly started lending them some of my books. Now I have more friends that read and share the same interest in paranormal books as I do. I started the Book Reader Times book club in December 2008. The BRT forum came shortly after. I love how there can be so many different opinions about the same books. The club and forum have certainly introduced me to new people, books, authors and bloggers.

The blogger community out there is AMAZING. So many blogs and so little time! I can sit at my desk and read blog after blog all day. I can say now that I will stay true to my paranormal books for as long as I shall live! Lol!
What was your first paranormal book? Did you try to get your friends to read that first book? Who is your favorite paranormal author?

Thanks for reading Ivy's post. She is also sponsoring a contest.

I think, like you, Twilight was what got me reintroduced and steadily reading paranormal. I also had trouble finding people who shared my love, so I started blogging.

I honestly can't remember the first PNR book I read. It feels like I've been reading and loving this genre forever. My most recent addition to my PNR love is Larissa Ione's Demonica series and the one I've been pimping out to my friends every chance I get. I love the world she's created and of course the drool worthy men are nothing to sneeze at either. I'm also obsessed with the BDB and Ward is definitely one of my faves, but Qhuinn is my obsession and I don't care who he ends up with (since it obviously won't be me).

Hiya! My first paranormal book for now is... Twilight. At least, that's what I remember since I only started blogging and recording the books I've read last 2008!

It's a real drag when none of your friends share your interest in books, I know all about it. Most of my friends wont even consider reading a fantasy book.
I got into PNR from the Southern Vampire books

My dear inquisitive Ivy,

I do believe my mother started me on paranormal books... I can think back to early childhood and fairy tales... and then filching her paranormal romance novels in my early teens!

I actually got REhooked as an adult with the Twilight Series and that was because one of my friends told me I had to read it! LOL

My favorite paranormal author is Laurell K. Hamilton.

People can say whatever they want about Twilight, love it, hate it but it got a lot of people (not just teens)into reading.

I feel the same way about blogs! It takes me hours to go through my reader.

Hmmm... I dont remember my first paranormal book but I believe it was a vampire book. Currently I am reading Unseen World by Seam Cummings. I believe it is classified as Urban fantasy. I am eagerly waiting for more PNR books by Ilona Andrews.
