Review: A Vampire's Kiss (Manigault Vampires 1) Laura Stamp

where I got my copy: Laura Stamp
where to buy: Kitty Feather Press

Sara Gadsden is a Wiccan Green Witch addicted to paranormal romance novels and their gorgeous vampire heroes. Like most people, she has no idea vampires actually exist until she meets Drayton Manigault at a Samhain party. Dray is not only one of Columbia's wealthiest businessmen, but he's also been a vampire for the last 145 years. Oh, and he's totally yummy. When Dray offers Sara a job working for his computer company, Manigault Technologies, fantasy collides with reality, and Sara's future is suddenly transformed into one wild, smokin' HOT ride.

Thanks to Laura Stamp for providing this copy for review.

*This review is for Chapter 1-3 only*
Sara's personality is very liberating. She's frank and she knows what she wants and do exactly what it is. No mental pep talk before she acted on it. I like that. I like her, sometimes I tire of heroines that think way too much. Sara met Dray on a costume party hosted by her friend Noelle. Sara is hooked on vampires. So when she met Dray dressed as a vampire she schooled him on the dos and don'ts of being one. It was very comical. They way she describes how vampires dress or act was like when the first time you saw Brad Pitt's awesome behind in Troy. It was like the derange fascination women have with shoes or how some men describe their obsession with World of War Craft. It was like that verging to ridiculous but I still love her anyway. With that being said Dray and Sara hit it off right away, Dray finds Sara's "unpredictable" trait as a turn on.The last chapter was such a teaser!

I am open for new concept when it comes to books / reading. I was a rebelling abit when they came up with ebooks. It just wasn't the same as when you have the actually book and flipping through the pages but after a year I embraced it, although I still really prefer hard copies. The mobility that ebook provides was the major reason. Now here's a new concept. Ms. Stamp is selling her books per chapter. I am not too happy that I was left to wait on what will happen next *sad face* but hopefully, I'll get used to it too.

Here's where you can buy and the release schedule of the rest of the chapters:

So it would cost $18 dollars to read this entire ebook? No thanks. Nice review of the first three chapters though.

What.On. Earth. I would not recommend this as a marketing ploy, nor would I buy a book chapter by chapter. This kind of boggles me.

I am missing FictionVixen's and SmokinHotBooks' comment. hmmm... is it maybe because of the transition from blogspot to my own domain?

Yea, it's a bit too expensive and to have to wait would drive me crazy!

Good review but I agree, that is a bit too much. I couldn't buy chapter by chapter anyways. The wait would drive me crazy

I'm shocked by this concept. Twenty dollars for an ebook is very expensive imo. And then for each chapter to come out in intervals makes for a jarring reading experience. I wish this author well, but I don't see this concept going over well.

Hello friends, I asked Laura about the format of her book. Here's her response:

Thanks, Pat! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I love that about Sara too. I'm not a fan of angst or over-thinking every decision. Sara decides she wants to do something, and then she does it. Much to Dray's continual surprise until he gets used to it. lmao!

How funny! I wasn't too happy with ebooks in the beginning either. But now I love them. As for the unique form of this serial novel, I think it is a cool concept. Think of it this way. It's kinda like a newsletter or magazine with a continuing novel in it every month. Especially good for people who love romantic vampire erotica. They know they'll get a good hit of it every month from me. Guaranteed! And for only $1.99. Love it! ;)

I decided to do this series this way because I had just gone through a period of 16 months with no new novels coming out from me. I have been writing them all along, but one publisher went out of business weeks before a new series of mine was supposed to come out last March. Then I signed with a new publisher who is moving very slowly. So it could easily be two years before new fiction came out from me. Not fair to me since I have written 5 books in that time just waiting for them to come out. Not fair to my fans to have to wait that long.

So now they don't have to. How cool is that?! ;)
